BioConnect: de jobinfoavond in een nieuw jasje

Op 17 oktober 2023 vond de allereerste editie van BioConnect plaats, een evenement dat studenten biologie in contact wil brengen met vertegenwoordigers van de werkvloer en hen een idee wil geven over de verschillende carrièrepaden die ze na hun studies kunnen bewandelen. Voor het eerst werd de organisatie van het evenement door de studenten zelf getrokken, met sponsoring van Deloitte, Galapagos en het Departement Biologie.
In het Quadrivium in de Celestijnenlaan verzamelden 74 studenten, voornamelijk masterstudenten biologie, om te luisteren naar de presentaties van Reine Spiessens (beleidsmedewerker biodiversiteit bij WWF-België), Nancy Cottigny (ceo van Ad Hoc Clinical), Annelies Van Dyck (tot recent doctoraatsstudent aan het Departement Biologie), prof. Maarten Van Steenberge (ichtyoloog aan het KBIN) en Ilse Bollaerts (Senior Compliance Engineer & Associate Business Manager bij Advipro). Nadien konden de studenten napraten met de sprekers bij een hapje en een drankje.

BioConnect: The Job Information Evening in a New Guise
On 17 October 2023, the first edition of BioConnect took place, an event that wants to connect students with professionals from the work floor and give them an idea about different career paths they can follow after their studies. For the first time, the event was organised by the students themselves, sponsored by Deloitte, Galapagos, and the Department of Biology.
In the Quadrivium in the Celestijnenlaan 74 students, mostly master students in Biology, gathered to listen to the presentations of Reine Spiessens (Biodiversity Policy Officer at WWF Belgium), Nancy Cottigny (CEO of Ad Hoc Clinical), Annelies Van Dyck (until recently PhD student at the Department of Biology), prof. Maarten Van Steenberge (ichtyologist at the Royal Belgian Institute for Natural Sciences), and Ilse Bollaerts (Senior Compliance Engineer & Associate Business Manager at Advipro). Afterwards, the students could chat with the speakers over a snack and a drink.
